For many of us, the end of the school year brings both the emotions and beauty of unforgettable milestones. Thanks to the Foundation, some of those milestones this year included 8th graders from King Philip and Sedgwick traveling to New York City to experience the power of live theatre through The Outsiders, and Unified Theatre students from both Conard and Hall getting new microphones to help amplify their voices and performances. At the Foundation, we know learning takes many forms, and we are proud to support experiences that help students find their voice, build confidence and empathy, and connect more deeply with each other and the world around them.

Unified Theatre students at both Hall and Conard are excited to have microphones and speakers to make their weekly singing and dancing sessions and their culminating performance powerful. One student reflected, “Thank you so much for the microphones. They were really helpful.” As Unified Theatre is getting ready to celebrate its 25th anniversary next year, it’s amazing to think it all began at Conard High School and now is in schools nationwide. The power of this program is clear: According to teacher Mary Ellen Wilkinson, “The tears that were flowing because our biweekly meetings were ending were evidence of the very strong bonds which were formed. I think everyone in the audience was in tears, in addition to the students.”
