Karen Abels, lead teacher, shared of B.R.A.G. Creative Marketing Grant: Meet Monet and Friends, "Students increased their appreciation and understanding of impressionist painters by viewing original paintings and pastels by the artists they studied in the classroom...Edgar Degas, Claude Monet and Mary Cassatt.

In addition to viewing the art work, they engaged in discussion, description and analysis of the paintings and engaged in comparisons of life in 1901 to life in 2019. 

Students were exposed to and experienced the en plein air technique of pioneering impressionist artists. Students viewed and analyzed Monet's Grainstacks, In Bright Light (1890) to inspire their pastel landscape drawings."

"The funds provided through this grant gave our schools the means to purchase the hardware and equipment to create two functional virtual/augmented reality carts; one at Conard and one at Hall.
In the Engineering classes, students were able to utilize new software features to truly explore their own 3D creations and refine their designs based on feedback that they wouldn’t have been able to gather through a traditional 2D layout.
In the Game & Web Design classes, students explored the current trends in VR software design and focused on enhancing communication of ideas with visualizing models in a 3D space. In the Computer Science classes, the students were able to visualize models and simulations that helped to outline the core concepts in the class: programming, procedures, abstractions, and algorithms.
Outside the CTE areas, we have begun conversations with other core content area teachers to arrange for demonstrations of various Oculus apps that support Social Studies, Science, and even English Language Arts. Members of the ELA department were especially thrilled at the idea of a new learning tool from Google called Google Expeditions which can create immersive walk-throughs of abstract concepts or environments and help students prepare for new readings and become more familiar with different cultures and themes they are learning about."
